Shopsite vs. Miva Merchant

Post by Philip Johnston »

Hi,

I just built a store using Miva Merchant 5, and I now have 1 or 2 more
stores to build in the next few weeks.

I liked Miva, once I got used to it, but looking at ShopSite, it seems
like it might be more user-friendly, easily implemented, etc. Although
I wonder if Miva is more powerful?

The stores I'm building are small (<20 items), and need to be fully
custom HTML, from the product pages through checkout. I'm not a major
programmer and just want something that I can design easily with, but
which will make my life easy, as far as inserting and modifying
products, configuring shipping, etc.

Is anyone familiar with both Shopsite and Miva and can give me a
recommendation or any advice one way or the other? I think I would be
using Shopsite Pro.

Thanks,
Philip

Don't know about the latest versions of Miva, but the older stores never
seemed
to do well in search engines.

We have never used Miva and have used ShopSite Pro for years. We have about
10,000 audiobook products at our Web store which I maintain on my desktop
using Access. I upload changes almost everyday. ShopSite Pro does just about
everything we want it to do and the developers are continually improving it
based on user input. I know enough about HTML and ShopSite to do most of
what we want to to, but if I need expert help, our host (Lexiconn,
www.lexiconn.com) is always there for us. They used to offer Miva, but no
longer do. You might contact them for their opinion.

Is your host familiar with ShopSite and Miva?

Philip,
You might check out the reviews at
http://shopping-cart-review.toptenreviews.com/
They reviewed ShopSite version 7 and Miva Merchant 4 so both are a
little outdated. You can see the enhancements added in ShopSite version
8 at

Thanks for the replies. No, my current host only uses Miva, but I'm
looking at switching to a different host for ShopSite. I was referred
to fatcow.com - they seem to have great priceing.

Thanks again,
Philip

I know nothing about fatcow.com nor have ever heard anything about them. I
recommend you ask others on this forum about fatcow.com before you switch
just because they have good pricing.
