inventory tracking emails

Is there a way to add a Shopsite tag to the low stock or out of stock
notification emails, eg [-- PRODUCT.SKU --]? I tried adding the tag in the
body of the message, but it didn't return a value.

The inventory tracking emails do not work as custom templates, and do
not interpret template tags.
