Trouble upgrading

I am trying to upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1.4. I have uploaded all the files
but cannot get wwwinstall.cgi to run. I have tried changing permissions
and uploading in ascii and binary. Any ideas?

Is wwwinstall.cgi in a directory that can execute cgis? All files
should be ftp-d to the install machine in binary mode. Some ftp clients
automatically assume that .cgi is a perl file and switch to ascii mode
for the upload. Make sure that the file size is the same on the install
machine as it is on the machine you ftp-d it from.

I uploaded in both binary and ascii setting my ftp client to manual on
transfer type. The files are the same size on both sides.
wwwinstall.cgi is in the public cgi-bin folder. I can execute other cgi
files in the directory. I am still getting an internal server error.

Any other ideas?

Make sure the wwwinstall.cgi file is executable (chmod 755 or chmod +x) if
you are on a Linux/Unix/BSD system. You can also check your web error log to
see if there is a specific error listed for the internal server error.

Also make sure you got the correct operating system version for where
you are installing it. Linux for Linux, Freebsd for Freebsd etc.

First problem was fixed. I redownloaded the shopsite files and
transfered to my server. I can now get the install/update to run and
show errors. But when I log into ShopSit show 7.05.

I also just noticed that orignally we had the Linux version installed
whcih ran with no problems. However the server is Fedora. That
should'nt matter correct?

Fedora is a distribution of Linux. So there shouldn't be a problem there.

If you ran a successful upgrade with the v7.1.4 install files, then the
version number you should see in the footer of the main menu (start.cgi)
is 7.1.4. Make sure you refresh the page, perhaps your browser is
caching the old page.

I have refreshed. I have now created a big mess. I noticed that the
files in /public_hmtl/sc and /public_html_ss were not updated so this
time I used that as the location to upgrade. Now nothing is working.
