multi-product template help

I have a very challenging assignment, I am hoping a more experience
developer can help me. I have a client with Shopsite Pro 7.1 , who is
currently selling his products grouped as various packages. He now wants to
offer his customers a discounted price on the individual items in the
package on an a la carte basis, BUT ONLY IF THEY ARE ALSO ORDERING ONE OF
THE PACKAGES. They can order a la carte without a package purchase, but they
will not get the discounted price. There are many a la carte items, and
the customer is not limited to only the items in his package. They can
purchase any additional items at any quantity, at the discount price as long
as they also buy at least one package. Any suggestions?
Someone at Shopsite suggested a multi-product template with some JavaScript,
but I am not fluent in JavaScript. However, if that is what it takes, I
might be able to convince my client to pay for help in the development.
Anyone interested?
