Alt tag in navigation bar in page header

Postby Andrea » Tue Jun 28, 2005 11:12 am

Hello,

I have a navigation bar on the top of my page that I created in
Preferences>Page Header & Footer, so it would appear in every page of my
site.
For SEO optimization purposes I would like the alt tag of the main image in
that navigation bar to change for each page.
I tried to insert a [--PageField..--] tag in the alt tag of the image in the
bar. My idea was that I could have changed it manually every time I built a
page. Instead when I hover on the image a little yellow box appear with the
actual writing [--PageField..--] in it rather than the alt description for
the image I typed in the page filed of that page.
Any idea?
Thank you for your input.

Andrea,

The Page Header and Footer are not parsed for Custom Template tags. The
only way to do this would be to incorporate this into a custom template.
Perhaps you could create a custom template Include file that you can put
everything you currently have in your Page Header setting, then in your
page template replace the [-- HEADER --] tag with the [-- INCLUDE
{name_of_your_include_file} PROCESS --] tag so that the include will be
processed for custom template tags.

Loren,

Thank you very much!

It works very well. I tried to upload the include file with the shopsite
interface and I got several errors, but once I uploaded in ASCII via FTP all
worked fine.

Your input is precious.
