Orders Database Restore issue

Postby Rick Hendrickson » Wed Jun 29, 2005 7:48 am

We have a client running Shopsite 7.0.5 Pro. The database of orders was
corrupted and we are attempting to manually restore from a backup (at the
server level.) We were not fortunate to have backed up with the Shopsite
database back up utility. We are attempting to restore files with the hard
drive backups. We restored the orders.db and the orders.p.db files at
roughly 5:00 Tueaday afternoon. I expected there to be missing orders for
the time period between when the database went corrupt and when I restored
on Tuesday afteroon. I was wrong. Orders appeared for that Tuesday, but
going back to before noon on Tuesday. This leads me to believe that there is
some sort of cache or temporary spot that orders are written to before the
are permanently written into the orders.db database.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to which files would contain this cache
so I can restore those files from my back up and possibly capture some of
the lost orders? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rick

When orders are first placed they are stored in their own individual
files. When the merchant goes to the Orders menu in their backoffice,
the info from these files is sucked into the main orders databases
(orders.db and orders.p.db). The individual order files are then renamed
with a different extension, and stay around for approximately 7 days. If
these files are still there for the particular orders you want to get
back into your db, then you can do so simply by renaming the files to
appear as if they are new orders. For more information, see the
following ShopSite Knowledgebase article:
