Database uploads

Postby Randy Smith » Wed Jul 27, 2005 9:57 am

I've usually added products to my store one or several at a time through the
Products section of ShopSite, but now I have to add a lot at once.

If I create a new tab-delimited database for the 120+ products I need to
add, must I download the existing Products database first, add to it and
then upload everything? Or would a new database with just the new products
on it append to the existing Products database on the site? (This assuming
that all my fields are correct in this addition). The ShopSite help doesn't
seem to make clear whether the entire Products file is overwritten on
upload, or if only duplicate products get overwritten -

Thanks,

RS

You can upload just the new products. If all products in your upload
file really are new (the Name or SKU does not already exist in ShopSite)
then the existing products will not be touched.

There is a product called Product Manager that is available. We have been
using it for years to edit out product and page database locally and then
upload the database to Shop Site for page regeneration. It enables us to
manage about 2900 pages with little effort. You can reach them at
http://www.stoneedge.com/ . Good luck.
