SS V.8.0 -> Wish for V 8.1 :-)

Postby Nikolaus Gruchot » Mon Aug 08, 2005 2:15 am

Hi there,

we are on V 8.0 now. The new "Packing slip" button in the order back office
is great!

My wish for 8.1 would be that buttons for "View orders" and "View Packing
Slip" would be added in the "View Order" and "View packing slip" screens.

Like: You select some orders and click on "View orders", underneath the
orders there are the buttons for [Print] [OK] right now. Here the [View
packing slip] button would be great, so that one could directly switch to
the packing slip view for the same orders and print them without going back
to the main order screen and reselecting the orders. So the selection for
the order screen could stay on "Show unread" instead of switching back and
forth between "Show all" and "Show unread".

This would be analog to the logic of being able to switch between [Edit
Product Info] and [Edit Product Layout] within the same product without
going back to the product selection.

:-)

TIA,
Niko

Hi all,

here is another easy way to quickly print order and packing slip with V8.0:

-> Select "Show unread" and [x] remember search and list all new orders ->
Select all new orders and "View Packing Slip" _first_ and print them.
Viewing and printing the packing slip does NOT change the unread status of
the new orders, so they will still display as new when coming back to the
orders screen. Now select all orders an View orders -> Print them, now they
are not longer listed when coming back to the order screen :-)

Thanx to Loren for clarifying that the packing slip viewing does not change
the orders read status.

Niko

Also, it would be nice if the packing slip were customizable through a temlate.

Perhaps it is somehow?

Not yet, but I'm sure that's in the cards.

While we're wishing, I was surprised to see that the Billing Address
information wasn't separated from the payment information in the Customer
Registration system. Also, how about making the Customer Registration more
searchable (ie. by number of orders, last order placed, etc) or at least
have that info downloadable and exportable.

The billing address is tied to the payment information because a
specific credit card has a specific billing address. You may have 2
credit cards in your name that both have the same billing address but
you may also have 2 cards that each have a different billing address.
(I.E. a personal card and a company card both in your name).

It would be nice to have more searchable registration and I think it
will come before to long. There is more search capability under orders
now so you can at least select all order by billing name, shipping name,
email etc.

It would also be nice to be able to change a shipping address or product
information after an order has been placed. This is a constant problem and
would be a nice change.

I'm not sure I like this idea. IF it were to be implemented, it would have to
be able to be disabled after the order has been retrieved from the backoffice.
