Order Management

Postby kory@dancedepot.com » Thu Sep 01, 2005 11:57 am

Our store has been live for a couple weeks now and I'm trying to determine
the best way to track/store my orders within ShopSite.

We use QuickBooks, and record our orders there, and I also save each order
as a PDF file. I've been deleting orders from ShopSite when they've been
fulfilled and billed, such that the only orders that appear on the Orders
page are orders that are new or that have not yet been shipped/billed yet.

I wonder if I'm making a mistake by deleting them from ShopSite. I see there
are a variety of ways to search the orders, so perhaps I should use ShopSite
to store all past orders? I can see that becoming a long list, however.

ShopSite doesn't have a built-in way to distinguish orders that haven't
shipped/billed yet, so if I don't delete any orders, I don't see any good
way to separate orders that still need action from those that have been
completed.

Any tips on the right approach are appreciated.

Thanks!

Kory; I recommend you consider adding Stone Edge Technology's Order Manager
software. ShopSite is an excellent program for the front end (getting
orders) of your Web store, however, as we found, you need a back-end which
Order Manager will do. I urge you to review Order Manager at
http://stoneedge.com/ordermanager.htm.

We couldn't operate as efficiently without it!

I second Larry's recommendation regarding Stone Edge Order Manager.

I third the recommendation!

We download our orders into Stoneedge every day and leave the active orders
in shopsite. When we process the order, we delete it out of shopsite, and
use Stoneedge as our primary record keeping mechanism. We only keep the ones
in shopsite while they are active as a backup.

Hope this helps!

Make it 4. I love Stone Edge and have been a customer for 5 years now. The
product gets better everyday as they make improvements all the time. It
would be a great investment in your business.
