custom search

Postby Ruth Kahn » Sat Mar 25, 2006 7:26 pm

Hi,
I am trying to create a custom search template set that will produce a
specific look and I am having little success. I have been able to create a
page witht the look and feel of my site but the search itself is poorly
formatted and I can't seem to get it right.

Each product has a graphic and appears on several pages. I would like it to
return, in table form, the graphic, the name, this list of pages (linked),
the price and the buy button. It returns all of this but the list of pages
is below the rest of the info (not in-line) and I cant seem to put a
separator between the products.

I was able to get a separator under the graphic/name/price/button, but then
the list of links was in the cell (and above) for the next product. Is this
possible or am I wasting time trying to code the impossible? Thanks for any
help you can offer.

The list of page links will always be returned after the product so you
will probably not be able to have the links in between product
information like you mentioned (graphic, name, list of pages (linked),
the price and the buy button). You could put the links in a group
either to the right or below the product information.

If you are trying to have multiple columns of products (with links) you
will need to create the table rows and column yourself and not rely on
the built in Number of columns option (i.e. [-- LOOP SEARCH PAGE.Columns
--]) which has some side effects because of the way the product and
links are returned for each search result.
