We Cannot Search Our ShopSite Store!

Postby Larry Bohen » Wed Oct 03, 2001 4:07 am

This is the third day we haven't been able to get our Search feature to
work. It just churns and churns. Our host says our Search works fine for
them. They believe it has something to do with our connection. Two
visitors to our Web store (10/1 & 10/2) said they couldn't
search either.

Here's what I have tried without success/resolution:

1. searched at different times of the day
2. searched using Netscape 6.1 & IE 5.5
3. reset our ISDN connection
4. used different search terms
5. regenerated our store

I would appreciate your help by going to our Web store at
(http://www.audiobooksonline.com/shopsit ... books.html), doing
a search and sending me the results.

Thank you.

I just did a search and it seemed to work fine. Check it again and see if
it is working now. I am using Internet Explorer.

Thanks for trying our Search. I just tried again in Netscape 6.01 and IE
5.5. Search just keeps churning.

Where are you located?

Works for me using Netscape 4.77 and IE 5.5 from Provo UT. It actually went
pretty quick. I searched for the word 'test' and it returns 4 pages of results.

Maybe one of the items that is in the first results page for the search you are
attempting has an image in the descrition that is being pulled from another
server that you can't reach from there? Try searching for 'test'.

Or maybe your store pages are being pulled from your browser's cache and you
really aren't able to reach the server at all and that just manifests itself
when you do a search?

Just tried searching with Netscape Communicator 4.7 and Explorer 6.
Everything worked great and the searches were fast. I am located in
Richmond, Virginia, and access through high-speed cable.

Additional Suggestions

Postby Norman » Wed Oct 03, 2001 5:55 pm

Just thought up a couple of additional things to try based on my current and
past problems. Try accessing your store from your current location using a
different computer. I upgraded one of mine and ShopSite doesn't function
correctly when I attempt to use the store from that one computer alone. Try
accessing your store from a different computer in your area. Try accessing
your store using AOL or a different network. Once there was a communications
problem in this area and I couldn't bring up the store for a week even people
in other parts of the country claimed it was working fine. I finally tried
AOL which uses a different network and up came the store.
