Creating custom product template - Reinventing the wheel? He

Postby Kevin Jon Schlossberg » Sun Jan 26, 2003 10:43 pm

I have a couple minor changes I want to make to the way the Default
Product Template looks, but since there's no way to do so, I have to
create a custom product template.

So, since there's no documentation on just how the Default Product
Template is exactly set up - just a "Here's a Basic Product Template!"
in the shopsite Tech support area - it seems that I have to reinvent the
wheel in order to accomplish this.

Has anyone reverse engineered the Default Product Template in it's
entirety? Wrapped text, subproducts, etc? Because I'm having a bear of
a time, and would love to see it.

Until I do get it created I have a problem - one of my goals was to
customize the header / footer area of my site & incorporate the search
bar into the header area, instead of leaving it where SS puts it...
previously I used the header/footer for basic site navigation and I
wanted to integrate that into the template itself so that I could just
use the header/footer for OrderAnywhere sales & such. Until such time
that I can incorporate the navigation into both the page and the product
template, I'm stuck with a make-shift amalgamation where I've got the
Universal header & footer turned off on pages, but on for products (and
therefore, different headers / footers on both).

Can anyone help me out here?

I can be reached at spark AT onestopknifeshop DOT com (darned spambots!)
if anyone has any personal experience with this. Thanks in advance!
