Is FTPing images to directories possible?

Postby Suzanne Stephens » Tue Jun 01, 2004 9:06 am

New ShopSite user here, so please be patient with my newbie questions!

Is it possible to FTP images to a number of separate directories so that
they won't all end up at the root level of the media folder? I've tried
uploading directories, but the only images that show up in the add product
image area are those that are not in sub-directories.

Thanks,

Suzanne Stephens

In ShopSite v7 the ability to create/manage/use subdirectories under the
media directory was added for ShopSite Pro and Manager (and maybe
Starter too?). Prior versions would only display images in the root
media directory in the pull-down menu selection lists for image
selection. In image selection text fields you can still specify the full
http:// URL to images in subdirectories of media, or anywhere else on
your site or on the web, for that matter.

Thanks Loren. By the time you responded, I had finally stumbled onto the
fact that my host, Pair.com, is running v6. Groan.

Loren:

So Loren, if I use full paths as you've described and if Pair upgrades to
v7, is it safe to assume that the paths will still work?

Also, do you know if any support manuals for v6 are available online? It's
really confusing trying to figure out v6 using v7 instructions.

Thanks, Suzanne

Yes, using the full http:// URL to the images will work in v7 as well.

The documentation for any version can be found at
http://www.shopsite.com/help/ , just select your product level and
version to get to the appropriate help section. Also, clicking the red
'?' icon in the right-hand side of the navbar in the ShopSite backoffice
screens will get you context-sensitive help for the screen you are on,
and specific to your version/product level too.
