Shipping API in v7 - any experiences?

Hello,

I'm currently evaluating ShopSite and have signed up for a ShopSite enabled
hosting account with Pair Networks so I can really get into the nuts and
bolts of the product.

I have written my own shipping module that calculates accurate shipping
costs in real time and would like to use this with ShopSite. The Shipping
API functionality built into ShopSite seems made for the job, but I was
wondering if anyone has had any experience of using the Shipping API in
ShopSite, i.e. actually using an external application to calculate shipping
costs and return them to the ShopSite shopping basket.

I've looked through the forum and can't find any mention of anyone using the
Shipping API - anyone out there using it? Care to comment?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I have used it, however the most common use of the Shipping APi is
probably going to be for the FedEx and USPS modules created by Lexiconn,
see http://www.lexiconn.com/ecommerce/shops ... ddons.html. I
would imagine there are quite a few people using these.

Thank you for your response.

Would you care to elaborate on your experiences of using it? Did you also
use the Shipping API in conjunction with Lexiconn's addon modules or
something you wrote yourself? Did it work first time? Did it work a little
different from how you expected it to work?Any problems?

I have not personally used Lexiconn's shipping modules. Only one
shipping module at a time can be used. I haven't had any troubles
getting the API to work when following the spec, and for the most part
is works as I expected and as it is documented.

Hi Loren,

I'm about to start transfering my custom shipping calculation over to a
webserver so I can start testing - hopefully I have the same experience with
the Shipping API that you've had.
