I need some SEO help and/or advise.

Postby Kapitol » Tue Jan 28, 2014 12:13 pm

My client is getting creamed with some keywords. Beads, Swarovski, and Crystal Components to name just 3. Crystal Components is interesting because only 10 or so results show up in Google and my clients store isn't one of them.

I'm starting to feel like her site isn't being indexed by Google, even though her webmaster tools shows that around 107 pages are being indexed. We should be placing somewhere per category. My SEO for Chrome extension says; http://www.artandsoulbeads.com/store/beads.html is ranked 1160 in the search results. I can't imagine it can get any worse at this point.

If anyone has any suggestions on how we can improve our rankings, please let me know.

I like the look of the website!

I am not an SEO expert, but I do regularly work with some of the basic rules for SEO, such as focusing on a few keywords per page, and not deviating from those, as well as getting correct structure, etc so search engines can easily sort the information on the page and get the main points of the page that you want search engines to see.

It looks like you have Google Analytics enabled, so you likely have also setup a Google Sitemap. If you have, log into this merchant's Google Websmaster Tools and view the sitemap. Within this area of Webmaster Tools you can check out the top 20 keywords on the website (on all pages submitted in the sitemap). This will give you a better idea of how search engines view their website in a snapshot of 20 words. Sometimes merchants and designers will use placeholder words such as "item" "image" or "product" and those words will be used so frequently that they are some of the top keywords.

Another thing to check out is the page speed. Sites that take longer to load will be ranked lower by search engines.

Matching keywords to page. I went to the site and clicked on "jewelry." From a shopper point of view, the less clicks to a product or a purchase link, the better. I would suggest having some products "Featured Jewelry" right on that page to build excitement about the jewelry. I also looked at the code on the jewelry page. From a search engine point of view, there weren't many keywords on this page. There weren't any meta keywords or meta description tags, so if you add those, make sure they include the jewelry keywords in them. The page title should also include those same keywords. The file name for the jewelry page is jewelry.html, which is good, but the title doesn't have the word "Jewelry" in it at all. I would suggest changing the title from "Art and Soul Beads - Emily's Collection" to something like "Jewelry, Necklaces, Earrings, Bracelets".

Another example of this is on the product pages. I went to the necklace, http://www.artandsoulbeads.com/store/product4916.html. For this page, I would change the file name from a default file name, product4916.html to something specific with keywords such as swarovski-purple-sterling-necklace.html. Then in the page title, meta keywords, meta description, and even the H1 tag on the page (for example, the product is a necklace, but it doesn't include the word "Necklace" in the product name at all), you will want to repeat the main keywords, such as swarovski, sterling silver, necklace, maybe even the type of jewelry, such as "wedding necklace."

It looks like some links on the site have titles and some images have alt tags, but you will want to have title tags on all links and alt tags on all images, this is another way to tell search engines what the link/image/page is about.

Those are my quick tips, I hope that helps some.

I also had same issue but I was running SEO campaign on my own but I was not professionally trained and knew only the basics. But then I had to hire the seo company Los Angeles for handling my On page and backlink work. They are doing t their work quite professionally.

We are also in the same boat with SEO. We have been on google shopping for a while now and just over a year ago we started with Pay Per Click on Google and just last Friday we started with Google Webmaster Tools. SEO is constantly changing and what worked 4 or 5 years ago does not necessarily work nowadays or there is a better way to do things. Once we have some additional information on keywords from the Google Webmaster tools we are also going to go with a professional SEO company.

Being an SEO expert and professional SEO consultant, many of my clients faced such problems in the past. The best solution is to create an XML sitemap and submit the same in Google Webmasters. Also, there is an option in Google Webmasters as " Fetch as Google". Use that option to get the pages indexed in Google. Do let me know if you still face any issue do let me know http://emarketingblogger.com/seo-expert/
