problems accessing more information page

Postby FredW » Wed Sep 12, 2012 12:51 pm

Hello Folks,

I'm working in a demo site with custom templates and encountered a problem with access a 'more information' page. It worked for awhile, then I added some more information to the product and now when I go to the page, the browser just sits... no message saying anything. I'm baffled.... do you have any thoughts? I assume that subproducts can have more information page, is that correct?

Thanks

Now it appears to work for one product but not another. The first product link works the second does not.. This is strange

It looks like that product is a cross sell product. The cross sell products are setup to link to the more information pages. That particular product is not assigned to any pages, so no more information page is created for it. I have assigned that product to a page (your test products page), and published, and it fixed the issue.

HI Lauren,

Thanks, but I didn't think it was a cross sell product - it should have been a subproducts.

BTW, is there a way to add subproducts to a product without removing those already assigned?

Is there a way to assign the parent to a product other than assigning the subproducts from the parent?

Thanks, in advance,

FredW

For subproducts, no you have to go to the parent product, then click assign subproducts. There isn't another way to do that. You can upload a database and in your database/spreadsheet, have new subproducts listed.

Lauren,
Can you elaborate on the "upload a database" technique?
Are you talking about this field in the product upload:
Subproducts - The names of any products to be grouped under this product.
....
A list of any of the names of products in the store. Separate product names with |. If the names of products in your store are not unique, you can use both the product name and SKU by preceding the SKU with a tilde (~), like this:

Exactly. For example, if you have your parent product "T-Shirt" and your subproducts "T-Shirt Red" "T-Shirt Blue" "T-Shirt Green" then your spreadsheet would look like:

#Name Subproducts
T-Shirt T-Shirt Red|T-Shirt Blue|T-Shirt Green
