mini Cart customization

Postby Covert » Thu Nov 08, 2012 9:27 am

I am not using ShopSite generated page. I only use the "OrderAnywhere". I would like to use the " # Items in Cart". here's my sample page: http://www.covertthreads.com/7170-pt-mini-crew2.html -- it's below the "add to cart".

after adding an item to cart; it does not show the number items in my cart. I follow the instruction from this url: http://www.shopsite.com/help/11.0/en-US/sc/pro/index.htm?page=/help/11.0/en-US/new-features.html

in this part of the code:
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
/**** REPLACE THE VALUES IN THESE LINES ****/
var serialnum="0000007011";
var cartURL="http://win2k/70/sc/order.cgi?storeid=*1a484557c5eb4b795d9463eed85a11&function=show";

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I did change the serialnum to our store serialnum and change the cartURL as well.

however, it still does not work. can someone help?

Thank you.

The mini cart uses a cookie to pass information about what is in the shopping cart to the store pages. Cookies can only be read by the domain that sets the cookie, so your store pages and shopping cart must be at the same domain.

In your case the store pages are at http://www.covertthreads.com and the shopping cart is at http://shopsite.powweb.com/. Since these are not the same domain the mini cart feature will not work on your store.

The only solution is to have your ShopSite store configured so that the shopping cart is at the same domain as your store pages. I believe that with powweb you would have to have your store moved to a separate server instead of a shared server. You should contact your host and find out what options you have with their hosting plans. If they don't permit having the same domain for pages and shopping cart and you really need the minicart you may have to move to a host that provides that type of service.
