Showing customer user ID when logged in

Postby aisg » Wed Sep 11, 2013 10:16 am

I hope this answer is not in the forums already. I searched, but could not find the keywords to see if it was.

When a customer logs in, is there a way to show the login ID on the screen like "Logged in as [-- CR_Email_Name --]" or "Hello <CR_Name>"?
What are the template fields to use and what field am I checking to see if they are logged in or not? I would like to access this information from my standard store pages and not just within the Customer Registration pages.

Thanks!

I asked our template designer and here is what she had to say:
Yes...I do this in new themes, the generic code for the registration sign
in links has this. It is "name" variable.

So checkout that cookbook page and check some of the more recent theme templates for sample code.

Thanks Jim. I found the new template samples online, but where can I see the code? They say they are for ShopSite 12.

The same code or similar code was probably used in templates added in 11sp2, Dynamic, Standard, Boutique, Pin wheel etc. So check those and see if any of them include some javascript similar to that in the cookbook example.

The customer is stopped from checking out when they haven't made a selection. Not so with the advanced options. I'm not using a more info page on these products.

In the Advanced option section for the product there is a text input field with this description
"Text before option descriptions (e.g. 'Choose' or 'Select')"
If you put a word in that box it will become the first entry in the pulldown list in the shopping cart. Unless they select something other than that option they will not be allowed to checkout.

I think that is what you are asking about?
