We've tried diligently for the past six months to make the Rewards Program work in support of approximately 85 "Buy X, Get 1 Free" offers, but have had to abandon the concept primarily because the vast majority of customers miss the reward announcement in the cart. We have experimented with positioning the notification in different areas, bright colored backgrounds with bold red lettering, the addition of a footnote below each "Buy X, Get 1 Free" item in our inventory explaining that the free item(s) must be claimed when they are part of a page containing mixed merchandise, and even went to the extent of completely switching our cart template - a time-consuming undertaking. My suggestion is that ShopSite force a pop-up notification similar to an Error Warning whenever an eligible reward is earned that has a "Click to Claim" button that would re-direct the customer to the appropriate page where they can choose their free reward item.
