To be added to ShopSite help

Postby Nikolaus Gruchot » Wed May 18, 2005 8:12 am

Hello there,

I have gathered the following information which should be added to the
shopsite help:

Supported payment processing providers:

Authorize.Net - US merchants only

NPC VirtualPay - US merchants only

Paymentech Orbital - US and Canada merchants

Cardservice International/LinkPoint - US merchants only

Optimal Payments - Canada, US, UK, Europe and other (whatever that means)

Lynk Systems - US merchants only

VeriSign - US merchants only

Best regards,

Niko

If I click on the setup link for the Optimal Payment merchant account in the
ShopSite backoffice I am taken to:
https://payment.firepay.com/shopsite/cc ... CALE=en_US

The link should rather be:
http://www.optimalpayments.com/credit_c ... p?Lang=Eng

As I can apply here for accounts in all currencies such as Canadian Dollar,
British Pound, Euro or US$

Will ShopSite be able to handle orders placed in our shop in Euro properly
towards an Optimal Payments account in Euro?

I am just asking as I remember our first trials with PayPal a while ago,
where all orders where handled as US$ orders regardless of our Shopsite
currency (this is fixed in the current 7.x version of ShopSite).

Thanks for any feedback,

Niko

Hello there,

seems that Optimal Payments does only list "Europe" on their website, but do
not support it.

Below is the answer to my inquiry about how a merchant account would work
for someone (us) from Germany.

"Dear Nikolaus,
Thank you very much for contacting Optimal Payments. Unfortunately, we do
not support merchants based in Germany, therefore we won't be able to help
you further.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you good luck in finding a
suitable Provider for your business.

Kind Regards,

Optimal Payments Sales Team."

Bottom line: If you run shopsite and you are not located in the US, Canada
or the UK, real time credit card processing is not available.

This is somehow a killing factor for shopsite being a first choice
application for German/EU customers, as there are several other German/EU
cart systems available (none as flexible as shopsite!) that come with
support and connection for real time payment processing companies located in
Europe and Germany :-(

No UPS integration, no real time cc processing, but I love my shopsite shop
and do not want to let it go.

Please tell me that somehow within the next 5 years we will overcome this
stupid "US/Canada only" and "Europe only" scenario and make it work in both
regions and I will stick to the shopsite flag!

Best regards,

Niko
from the "foreign" land called Germany ;-)

Niko,

Have you checked with WorldPay? They should accept merchants in Germany.

Hello Loren,

thank you for the hint.

They do indeed have a german dependency and accept german merchants.

I have looked through their price scheme and if we would start using them
our costs for cc billing would slightly increase (about more 3,000.00 US$ /
year then we pay now).

As long as this is the only alternative, we will stick to good old manual
punching in numbers ;-)

Thank nevertheless and best regards,

Niko
