need new products item to correspond to shopping cart

need new products item to correspond to shopping cart

Postby Teresa Landry » Fri Jun 10, 2005 3:29 pm

I've just added some new products to my website and noticed that when you go
to the product page and you go to order the item, it takes you to the
shopping cart screen and shows a different item being ordered.

A few of the items I'm having problems corresponding to the correct item in
the shopping cart are:
http://www.skivys.com/shop/product20.html
http://www.skivys.com/shop/product34.html
http://www.skivys.com/shop/product25.html
http://www.skivys.com/shop/product29.html

If anyone could help me figure this out I would greatly appreciate it.

thanks,
teresa

It doesn't look like you generated these using ShopSite, but other pages
on your site were generated using ShopSite, based on the meta tags. I'd
suggest you create these pages through ShopSite so that the products end
up with the correct item numbers.

If you want to go the route of creating your own pages, you should
probably do it using Order Anywhere tags and *not* put these pages in
the ShopSite created subdirectory.

If you need more help, give us (your hosting provider) a call.

I'm not sure that v7.0 put the meta generator tag on the more info
pages, that may be new in v7.1, so these MIGHT be ShopSite-generated
more info pages. Try go to Utilities -> Publish and Regenerate the
entire site from there then see if the issue persists.

Note that deleting products then uploading them again (or manually
adding them) does not guarantee that they will have the same internal
record number (which is what is used to indicate which item to add to
the cart) in the ShopSite database. The easy solution for
ShopSite-generated pages is just to Publish immediately after
uploading/adding products so that the pages are updated with the new
item numbers for the products.

For ShopSite Manager and Pro folks using OrderAnywhere, I would
recommend using the OrderAnywhere by SKU feature to avoid this issue. As
long as you keep the same SKU number for your products, the
OrderAnywhere buttons should always work (because they use the SKU
instead of item number) as long as you click the Regenerated SKU
Database in Merchandising -> OrderAnywhere after adding/uploading products.
